Does constantly wearing toenail polish cause toenail infections?

I was just browsing Y answers and somebody said that she used to wear toenail polish all the time and developed and infection of her nail beds. She believed it was because she always had polish on her toe nails.

Has this happened to you? Did you wear polish a lot and develop a nail infection? Do you blame the polish?

Just curious.

I don't have nail problems, but I wear polish on my toes a lot.

Does constantly wearing toenail polish cause toenail infections?
I wouldn't blame the polish perhaps if the person before her had an infection and used the same brush - or the salon wasn't 100% clean -

but polish, no - (If I was the one using it).
Reply:No. Definitely not the nail polish. Nail polish does not cause infection. She may have gotten a pedicure in a place that did not clean the tub before she used it. Or maybe the utensils were not sterile. It is important to make sure that you go to a clean, licensed place to get a pedicure.
Reply:You get an infection from bacteria. Shower/tub area not properly cleaned. Poor hygeine. Pedicure equipement not properly sterilized. It's possible though if you alowed someone with an infection to use your nail polish, it could be spread.
Reply:u wont if u do dont blame the polish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...
Reply:If you blame the polish, you suck.
Reply:i always wear polish on my toes. the only time i take it off is to put more on and i have never had a problem with it. maybe the other girl had a bad reaction.
