a truck driver today told me to get a polishing compound, which is green and comes in a brick, and to mix it with CLR to make a REALLY good chrome polish. does anyone know exactly how to do this? his mixture was like a paste.

So you're willing to mix polishing abrasive with CLR. which is caustic (LYE) sink cleaner, and then rub it all over your nice chrome? Go for it. I want to see the after photos.
Go buy some Mothers or other premixed stuff.
Reply:I wouldn't do it unless you know the guy personally. You don't know what chemicals can do when they mix. They could damage your crome.
