When Nail Polish Remover Fails ?

anyone got anyway 2 help out???? i have this gold sparkley nail polish and it like 3 years old or something. it took me 5 hours to get off! nail polish remover didnt work, so i bought new nail polish. anyone got any other ideas on how i could get it off%26gt;?

When Nail Polish Remover Fails ?
The sparkly stuff is notoriously difficult to get off, I am sorry to say.

If you don't have acrylics, try pure acetone. Soak your nails for a bit, and then take an orange stick after the sparkly stuff has softened and scrape it off with the orange stick.

Since I had acrylics when I had my run in with the gold sparkles, I ended up having to sand the stuff off with a nail file. Just use it gently, like a buffer, and be sure you stop when you get down to your natural nail (or your acrylic nail, if you have those). But try the pure acetone first, if at all possible.

Best of luck.
Reply:Off of WHAT? Your fingers?

Try a different type of acetone.
Reply:Acetone, from a beauty supplie
Reply:Let It soak in a mix of Acetone, paint thinner, and peroxide...

(with acetone being the most concentrated....the paint thinner and peroxide just deal with any weird compounds not soluble to acetone.)

10 min max, and wash your hands well and put lotion on your fingers...

(Suffice to say, we do lots of traveling on the gymnastics team and I don't exactly wake up easily. lol)
Reply:you can start to us the nail remover and then you can us a bush and it mite come off.

Does nail polish have an "expiration" date?

While cleaning out my closet I found a shoe box full of nail polish. I haven't bought any recently so I know some of them must be at least 2 years old. Is it bad to use old nail polish and does nail polish "expire"?

Does nail polish have an "expiration" date?
Doesn't really go bad, might thicken up though. It helps when you put them in the refridgerator. Add only a tiny amount of remover.
Reply:nail polish has a life, when you first get it, it is new, and good to use. but constant use makes it old. i'd say once you have to dip the brush more than twice to get it wet enough to cover 1 finger, it needs to go. how ever its not bad for your nails unlell you peel it off, it gets so thick that when you peel it off it gets rid of the top layer of nail, making your nails weak.

ways to keep the life of your nail polish long:

1. wash the brush every once and a while to prevent dry nail polish build up

2. don't leave bottle open while painting nails(it may take a little longer but if you don't the polish on the rim drys making the lid stick)

3. wipe the rim of the bottle of to prevent sticking

4. if it starts drying out add a few drops of water, mix thuroughly, and shake, to add moisture
Reply:They will thicken over time. But, before i would put remover in it to thin it out, I would go to a beauty supply store because they sell a thinner and it is cheap. It works better that polish remover because it help the polish keep it shine. This product also takes just a few drops.
Reply:it doesn't have an expiration date, but check for yourself, cause after a while it can get really sticky and gooey.
Reply:no nail polish dont expire but to keep it you must shake it well then put just a little remover in it to bring it back
Reply:It does, but yours should be ok, open the bottle and if the polish is thick and goopy even after shaking it, then it is expired, you'll also notice if you can't really smooth it out when polishing your nails, and it's just goes on thick and gunky. But depednding on the brand it should still be ok, just try and paint one nail with it and you'll be able to tell. If it's a little gunky try putting a little bit of nail polish remover in it and shaking it up that will also help and you will be able to get a few more uses out of it. Good Luck!
Reply:here in the u.s. nail polish doesn`t have an expiration date, but after 2 years it`s possible that the polish will be a little thick %26amp; difficult to use...my suggestion is to pitch it %26amp; start over with new polish!!!...in some other countries, nail polish bottles usually have the date the polish was manufactured %26amp; an expiration date, which i think they should start doing here!!!

I put martin&co guitar polish for fine wood, i asked a question if it was right for my black glossy finish....

and someone said they had 14 years of experience and that I shouldnt put on that polish because it will leave wax and soon make my guitar's black glossy finish dull. I asked her what to do because I already applied it to my precious gibson flying v and I dont know what to do but she didnt reply to the email i sent her. This is her answer

"youre actually better off not using polish at all. buy a micro-fiber cloth. it will lift all the oil and residue off of your finish without scratching. adding polish meant for wood finish on a painted gloss finish will leave behind wax and other traces of the polish, and that will accumulate over time and dull your finish.

but you can use the polish for the back of the guitars neck unless it also has the black gloss finish."

Will someone please tell me what to do! I don't wanna ruin my $1000 guitar less than a week from when I bought it!

I put martin%26amp;co guitar polish for fine wood, i asked a question if it was right for my black glossy finish....
just don't use it any more and if you think about it it is a clear coat over the paint so you really never hit the paint it self just don't put more on use a furniture polish once in while not every day just wipe it off with a soft cloth

Clr and polishing compound to make chrome polish?

a truck driver today told me to get a polishing compound, which is green and comes in a brick, and to mix it with CLR to make a REALLY good chrome polish. does anyone know exactly how to do this? his mixture was like a paste.

Clr and polishing compound to make chrome polish?
So you're willing to mix polishing abrasive with CLR. which is caustic (LYE) sink cleaner, and then rub it all over your nice chrome? Go for it. I want to see the after photos.

Go buy some Mothers or other premixed stuff.
Reply:I wouldn't do it unless you know the guy personally. You don't know what chemicals can do when they mix. They could damage your crome.
Reply:best chrome polish ever..... peanut butter smooth no nuts.

Dark nail polish on short or long nails?

i've been growing my nails - doing quite well - filing them for a square look at the top.

but...when i put black nail polish on they looked awful!!

i'm not keen on light nail polish - pinks and apricots, but i like the natural french polished look on long nails - why is this?

i've shortened them by half now and it looks much better.

Dark nail polish on short or long nails?
I think the dark polish makes the long nail look too much like a claw...something a halloween witch costume would need! Maybe it's just perception or possibly the women we see wearing dark polish on long nails..not very classy, in general, are they? I think it can make a mental image without us even knowing it.

But for me, I just like the look better...I prefer the shorter nail, squared off and then painted with either a very sheer light colour or with a dark colour. More elegant.

Besides, long nails can be difficult to manage.

Have you seen the new Navy Blue colour in nail polish? I'd heard recently black polish was out and had been replaced with the Navy (very dark) Blue. Almost looks black. It's very nice.
Reply:I would say long
Reply:Go for a dark red like rimmell's "desire" or some dark purple colours rimmell do saome great one's and they aren't expensive. Black will always look gross.
Reply:I agree, I think black nail polish looks much better on short nails and french manicure suits long nails!

This could be because black nail polish is high maintenance so in order to look good has to be applied to short, neat nails rather than long witchy nails!

Black nail polish looks so good because it goes with everything which is why I think it looks hot on anyone and why I love it! :) But I also love a good french manicure when I'm feeling girly! lol :)
Reply:Black nail polish is just wrong unless you want to look like some emo kid. Try red or dark pink.
Reply:dark nail polish makes your nails look shorter.

so put it on long nails.

or get a french mani.

in my humble opinion, those are two of the best looks for nails.
Reply:if you have long dark nails it could lookk gothic or trashy.

i loveeee dark nail polish but i make sure my nails are short and squared when i use it. wicked by essie is my favorite color and dior vernis is a gorgeous shade of midnight blue.
Reply:dosnt matter dark nail polish is hot go for it.
Reply:mine are dark red at the moment. Not very long not very short.

they look nice actually. black is not so easy to use. although i did a few times.

Don't use those acrylic nail polishes. They don't work well.

Mavala for example is very good.

The nails shouldn't be very long for black nail polish, it is not nice. You should keep them middle length. cut them squarrish.

http://www.opi.com/_home%20assets/August...
Reply:french tips do look better on long nail because there is actually a 'tip' to put it on, but i have slim finger and long nails and i love to wear black nail polish, i don't think it looks bad at all, but i will admit when your nails are slightly shorter it is better.

ps: i like dark nail polish but i must admit it looks stranger on long nail, i don't know why, but it is not a mind thing. lol
Reply:Black nail varnish looks awful on long nails, they should be short cause then it looks hot and choppy and cool.

A french manicure looks good on medium length to long nails, those tip things make your natural nail look tiny and odd shaped, especially on your thumb!

Just an opinion
Reply:cut them thats better lol
Reply:I love putting black nail polish on my nails when they're long, and my friends put black nail polish on short nails. But I personally prefer black on long nails as it can make fingers seem stubby if you have short nails.

Hope this helps!

Reply:short.
Reply:Dark nail varnish looks better on short nails, mine were quite long and I put on dark blue... it looked silly!!! x
Reply:I don't prefer black nail polish, doesn't look good on long nails, good u've cut them, try some other shades

Best boot polish?

A week ago I was riding in a lesson and my tall boots got quite muddy because of the many puddles. I have procrastinated on cleaning them (which was a bad idea). Today (4 days later) I saw them in their horrible state and decided I must clean them. I sprayed the globs off with a soft stream of water, but no matter how long I try to wash the specks off ( with water) , they just wont come off. They're not particles that you can feel by going over the boots, but specks that the dirt and mud left behind. Today I am going to a horse fair, and they surely have boot polish there. What is the best method of getting rid of these specks and will my boots ever shine like they did before? What is the best polish? and how muc will it cost? (it might be a bit more expensive at the fair) Thank you very much.

PS. I tried using regular boot polish, but it didn't make my boots shine like they use to. It only made them a dull black.

Best boot polish?
Regular Dubbin will do the job. Failing that, then try normal glycerine saddle soap.
Reply:I would try cleaning them with vogel leather conditioner http://www.vogelboots.com/product_detail... first and then applying polish. I like to use the shoe polish that comes in the tin b/c it gets a better shine, but you can use the cream kind that comes in a jar too.

The trick is in the way you apply it.

First, you want to apply a really generous amount of polish using an aplicator brush http://www.123tack.com/winning/product.a... (don't put any polish on the inside of the calf b/c it will make your saddle gunky) Wait a few minuets to let the polish dry a bit and then buff the boots with a polish brush. http://www.123tack.com/winning/product.a... The last step is to buff them with a cloth (gives you the super shiney mirror finish) Also, it's a lot easier to polish your boots when you are wearing them.

NEVER EVER use one of those quick shine sponge things (they are bad for the leather) and only use glycerin soap on the inner calf b/c it will ruin the boots color.
Reply:I have the same boots. For getting spots out I highly recommend Leather New. It's a glycerine soap spray (so it basically the spray on version of those orange saddle soap bars) and it cleans very well. I use it in conjunction with a regular boot polish to make my look shiny and new!

For the shine issue: they sell these foam-like blocks to buff your boots with, they work very well. I don't know why cfazio thinks they're bad for leather (which they are made specifically for), but my coach buys them and uses them on everyone's boots as we enter the ring and she knows what she's doing.

Black nail polish?? Red nail polish? Favorite nail polish?

Is black nail polish cool or tacky? Is red tacky or chic? What is your fave style/ color? I personally favor French manicures.

Black nail polish?? Red nail polish? Favorite nail polish?
I like light pinks, blues, and purples that are shiny.
Reply:black- can look nice on shorter nails with a matte finish so as to not look witchy. i personally never wear it.

red- always classy, but hard to find a good shade sometimes.

my favorite color for toes is fire engine red with high gloss.

the top colors for fall/winter (according to the large number of cosmetic lines i have seen launch so far) are:

1. purples/plums

2. reds/crimsons

3. navy

4. teal/greens

5. black

my personal favorites are...

OPI vodka %26amp; caviar (creamy red)

OPI koala beary (vinyl hot pink)

merle norman teddy bare (creamy nude)

french manis are timeless.
Reply:My all-time favorite is black nail polish.

But i have short nails so yeah.

I also like mettalic colors like chromes, silvers, golds.
Reply:pastel pinks

baby blues

shimmery golds

glossy purples

sassy silvers

no blacks, no matter wat u look like they make u look emo
Reply:I like shiny black polish but I think it will not suit on me so I don't wear it as for the red one it is COOL and i love it in any season but mostly it looks cool in the summer especially the bright one well that's what I think. My fave is Red, Pink and Blue.
Reply:neither are tacky!!! black can look punk or mod, red can look bright and bold or chic and confident. i luv both colors!!!! i really like dark purple on my feet. i like solid dark colors mostly, and red!
Reply:black nail polish tends to look a little goth or tacky, and it can make your skin tone look gross.

if you really want to use something dark, try a deep brown, it's less harsh. i use o.p.i.'s 'espresso your style.'

as for red, as long as you use a good, bright shade that isn't too bluish, it looks great. i'd recommend orly's 'haute red.'
Reply:Black nail polish is in as long as its shiney and not a dull black, so use a top coat. Red nail polish is great for fall and winter, but try using a deep cranberry red instead of fire engine red, and i love pink nail polish but it really all depends on your skin tone.:0)
Reply:black is good as long as it is shiny. I love french manis 2. Red doesn't look good on most people. depends on ure skin tone. the tanner u are the better it looks on u
Reply:i like sparkly and shiny nail polish and pink or black or light blue.
Reply:Like she said glossy black looks good with anything. Red makes me feel like a hooker. I usually go with a light silver light pink and black.
Reply:Black nail polish would be on either. if you are goth or it's hallowen it's soo cute and in. But if it's for just cause soooooooo tack.

Red nail polish always in. It looks cute with anything. It's a great way to brigten up an outfit or someons day!

I like when they put a very pale blue and put a pretty design on. Once i got rainbow colored ... so 7 colors per nail. It looked sooo cute.

I also do enjoy french manicures to. i think they look so cute and natural...(sometimes). Great question btw.

Where do Polish live in and around London?

Hi,

I am looking for a nice Polish community for a friend who is coming over from Poland in the Summer. She is 24 and speaks little English, therefore, I would like to find her somewhere near lots of other Polish people. Perhaps any Polish girls out there could let me know of their experiences when they first arrived and where they finally settled down.

Many thanks.

Where do Polish live in and around London?
Apparently everywhere.

Black nail polish?

i've noticed that a lot of the girls that supposedly have eating disorders, whether its anorexia or bulimia, wear black nail polish...

is that due to the trend or does wearing black nail polish suggest that the girl might have an e.d.? because i've heard they use dark nail polish to cover their unhealthy and discolored nails due to the e.d.

Black nail polish?
it's possible that's for sure, but I think the majority of them do it for fashion .
Reply:I don't know because me and my friend wear black nail polish because it's our favorite colr and we don't have eating disorders but I guess some famous people do that have eating disorders. I'm not sure if that's why though...
Reply:I don't think so. It is probably just a coincidence.
Reply:who knows , but i wear black nail polish are you callin me mental? j/k idk i never noticed that b4
Reply:hmmm....interesting. The "goth" girls I see wearing black nail polish all seem kinda well fed to me. It's the goth boys who look like sticks.
Reply:me too have black nail polish....

hmmmm but i do not had eatin disorder...its jus a trend....
Reply:It's the new red of Hollywood. Where some of us have used it for decades it's the latest thing w/ some celebs. The girls with e.d needs to worry about covering up their unhealthy looking bodies not their nails.
Reply:I think I kind of notice what you mean... but I think they only wear it because it is the fashion.
Reply:yeap you got it the goth girls wer it , don't know about the other.
Reply:I found out that all the young girls in Hollywood are wearing dark nail-polishes. From black to even dark plum,it's just the new thing,a new fashion type statement. You can read all about it in Life %26amp; Style magazine
Reply:Black nail polish is just a trend.
Reply:omg

u r totally right

i never ever noticed that!!
Reply:I've never noticed that before. A lot of the anorexic celebs I've seen all have fake nails done up in French manicures. Acrylic nails will cover up the discolorations too.
Reply:I dont like to judge people,or their taste in things.Personally,I would never wear black nail polish.Maybe when I was 18 I would have, but not now.But I can understand girls that do,and what they believe in ,so it really doesnt bother me to see girls wearing it!
Reply:i don't think that's the fact i just think that its just a trend you know one person does it everyone will.I have seen alot of girls with it it's mostly young girls.
Reply:never heard of that...but it doesnt have to be only black ..red or blue or any dark color would cover it .....i use to wear all kinds of colors but i didnt have a eating disorder
Reply:I never heard that but whenever I wear black nail polish people think i'm trying to be a goth. it's so stupid, I just like the colour!

Does nail polish turn your nails yellow?

Every time I put on nail polish it looks nice and everything, but when I remove it, my nails are this ugly, dull yellow color. Usually my natural nails look healthy, but every time after I wear nail polish they look awful. Is this just me? Can I fix it somehow, or is there a certain brand of nail polish that won't do this?

Thanks!

Does nail polish turn your nails yellow?
Usually only the cheapy ones do it, it used to happen to me. If you use Sally Hansen it probably won't do it. Your nails might be sensitive to centain chemicals in the polish too. Try taking a Q-Tip dipped in nail polish remover that says it will stregthen nails and run it over your unpainted nails as if your painting them. Let the first coat dry and do it again. Then apply a base coat of clear polish to protect your nails. After that drys, paint them whatever color you want because the base coat with protect them! Good luck!
Reply:This usually happens when you have a dark color on your nails..

Try using undercoats ..

It helps protect your nails...

You put that on first, and then you put your nail polish on.
Reply:it does overtime....... there is a clear finger paint that you put on before you put the colored one on and it protects your nails... then you put it after the colored ones so your nails can last...... hope this helps! good luck!
Reply:Usualy this happens if you keep polish on for a long amount of time. There are soaks, or you can buy some denture soak and soak your nails. You can also buffer them down.
Reply:it happens to me to it will do away in a few days i would suggest waiting till ur nails turn back to there color before repainting
Reply:maybe some kinds.
Reply:Absolutely NOT!!! It looks pretty. I have nail polish on almost every single day without taking it off to let my nails breathe and they are perfectly fine!!!
Reply:This happens because your nails are being covered for that whole time. They can't "breathe" and so anytime you wear nail polish for a while, this'll happen. You can avoid it by not leaving nail polish on for very long.
Reply:you need to let them get some air inbetween polishes b/c with polish your nails dont get air
Reply:you need to use a base coat the dye in polish is staining your nails ,a good one is opi base coat it really is worth it because it levels the nails out ,also you could have a nail fungus or just need to let them breath by not wearing your polish for more than a week and going one day without any on :)
Reply:just use regular nail polish. put on various LIGHT coats so that the nail can breath through the polish. dont add globbs of it to your nails.

hope i helped!

Ciao!!!!

What's the difference between polishing compound, chrome/metal polish, and wax? TurleWax Polishing Compound?

I have a motorcycle with chrome parts, painted metal parts, painted plastic parts, and exposed engine parts.

I was going to get this "TurtleWax Polishing Compound" because it said it makes stuff shiny and erases scratches, and that it works on paint *and* chrome. Should I use this for everything?

Do I have to put wax on after? What if I skip the polishing compound and just wax? Also, shoudl I get something special for the chrome, like metal polish? how do i know what to get?

What is the difference between all these, what exactly do they FOR.. the title's aren't very descriptive.

Ooh, and my air filter cover is a different kind of metal, possibly plastic, but it has these wormy grooves in it.. weird--what causes that and should I do something special for that?

What's the difference between polishing compound, chrome/metal polish, and wax? TurleWax Polishing Compound?
care should be taking when using a rubbing compound the medal and chome maybe ok but watch the plastic parts i have always used one wax for painted parts one for chome
Reply:ask the maker of the wax/polish that you are using. With modern technology, there may be compounds that can do all that you want without additional wax. www.turtlewax.com
Reply:some compounds have a very low abrasive media inside the contents this could result in a bad case of scratched fifty dolla wheelz
Reply:ALL COMPOUNDS ARE ABRASIVE AND YOU CAN DO MORE DAMAGE IF YOU DON'T USE IT CORRECTLY.

FOR THE CHROME JUST USE 0000 STEEL WOOL, EASY TO USE AND WILL SHINE UP LIKE A MIRROR.

FOR THE EXPOSED METAL PARTS USE MOTHERS.

FOR THE PAINTED SURFACES TRY USING A MILD SPRAY WAX FIRST AND SEE WHAT WILL HAPPEN.

YOU CAN ALSO USE THE SAME WAX ON THE PLASTIC ITEMS AS WELL.

GOOD LUCK........

Remove Nail Polish From A Purse?

A bottle of my pink nail polish kinda broke open inside of my purse.. How can i remove it from the lining? I've tryed nail polish remover and it hasn't worked. the purse was a xmas gift so i really don't want to dispose of it. How can i remove nail polish from a purse?

Remove Nail Polish From A Purse?
If the nail polish cannot be seen from the outside of the purse, I would just leave it in there. Trying to remove it will cause more damage to the purse than it's worth. And you might end up ruining the bag altogether - so I'd leave it alone.

Good luck!

ymmf
Reply:I had that happen on the outside of a suede purse that cost me like $80 or so. I was doing my nails and the bottle spilled and leaked all over the side of my purse. I ended up throwing it away because it never was the same after that no matter how hard I tried to get rid of the stain. But yours is on the inside so it won't be as bad.

My nail polish wont come off?

ok i havea really big toe ! I know thats weird and gross.I use nail polish remover and try getting the nail polish of but it wont come off !

also my friend has a really tiny toenail on her pinky toe and a drop of nail polish will over flow her baby toe ! Is that normal

My nail polish wont come off?
put the remover on a cotton swab and hold it on your toe till it softens then you should be able to wipe it off with a bit of a strong wipe. everyone has different toes, so if that is the way her toes are - it is normal.
Reply:scrub and yes
Reply:no...its normal. most ppl's pinky toenails are like that..... and try using stronger nail polish remover and scrub your feet clean
Reply:! a good strong nail polish remover should work!!!
Reply:you should use strong nail polish remover and use a cotton to scrub it off
Reply:your a retard you just have to scrub your toes and it will come off and your friend is a wierdo for asking this question
Reply:You might want to use a stronger remover.Get the one that says it's NOT safe for acrylic nails. And if you have glitter over the polish it's harder to get off.Just try rubbing harder and using more.
Reply:uhm that is weird lol but try using stronger remover and sumthn thicker than a cotton....thing. if u have a design that ha more than just nail polish (top paint, glitter like that other person sed, or jewels) itll be harder to remove. also, maybe ur nail polish isnt acrilic, and ur using the rong kind of remover....is there not acrilic nail polish? idk, but this is all i can think of! as for ur friend, uhm...its not a freak thing, cuz i no people with really small piggy toes (lol), and that "drop" of polish culd be bigger than her toe! my piggy toe isnt THAT small, but hey...if ur piggy toenail was big, it wuldnt be called a piggie toe, right? lol

GOD BLESS!

Pronunciation of Polish last name?

I have an appointment with a Dr Wolaniuk, who is Polish. My former college roommate, also Polish, was named "Saniuk" and it was pronounced Sahn-yuk. I thought "Wolaniuk" would be similar, like Vol-ah-nyuk, but the service called to remind me of my appt with Dr Wol -nee-ak. If any Polish speakers could advise, I'd appreciate it very much.

Pronunciation of Polish last name?
Vo-LAH-nyuk

I never met the name in Polish, but in Ukrainian it is written Волянюк, and thus pronounced (and transliterated) Volyanyuk (Vo-lya-nyuk).

edit: I today asked a Polish colleague, who confirmed that the surname Wolaniuk is used in Poland but of Ukrainian origin. A Russian (half-Ukrainian) colleague added that Волянюк in Ukrainian is usually stressed on the last syllable (Vo-lya-NYUK), whereas in Polish it is always stressed on the penultimate (Vo-LAH-nyuk).
Reply:Woh-lahn-yook
Reply:Ok first of all service calls NEVER and i do mean never get our last names right! I just laugh at them and hang up lol. But anyways you were right the first time Wolaniuk is pronounced Vol ah nyuk. Stupid callers. Good Job! Do Widzenia
Reply:Vol-ah-nyuk is right, Wol -nee-ak is wrong unless his last name is Wolniak
Reply:either you spelt it wrong or they did. if it's your spelling then you were right with your pronunciation - i often come across people who can't pronounce their boss' names and it drives me frickin crazy!! having said that, maybe it's someone new at the clinic...i guess i shouldn't be so harsh...?! ;o)
Reply:You are right to pronounce the name Wolaniuk as "vol-ah-nyuk." Polish spelling is pretty regular, so the letter "w" will pretty much always stand for a "v" sound, an "o" stands for a "oh", an "a" is an "ah", the letters "ni" stand for a "ny" (like the Spanish ñ), "u" is a "oo" and "k" is, well, a "k" ;)

By the same token, if somebody pronounces the name as "voh-lee-nyak," due to the regularity of Polish spelling, it must stand for a different name, i.e. Woliniak. One word will almost never have more than one pronounciation in Polish, so Wolaniuk is always "vol-ah-nyuk," or raher "vol-ah-nyook" since the last vowel should be a full long "oo" sound.

Whoever gave you the name on the phone could have mispronounced it, or you may have been mistaken about the name from the outset as it might really be Woliniak. However, I am Polish and I would have mispronounced it easily... it's like saying "Tom Johnson" instead of "John Thompson" - some people will do that ;)

Black nail polish- yes/no?

At my school, black nail polish is assosciated with people who only wear black and are considered gothic. I'm the total opposite of those people. Yet I LOVE black nail polish! I get some crap for wearing it because it doesn't really fit the stereotype. What do you think? Is black nail polish cool or not?

Black nail polish- yes/no?
ya i think its cute. dont let ppl tell you what to wear. you be the trend setter and wear what you want. i like black nail polish
Reply:I think so. If you look to the media, lots of stars sport dark nails. It's kind of hot right now in the fashion world. If people give you crap for it, then they're just shallow and narrow-minded for needing to label everything and everyone.
Reply:I love black nail polish! Who cares about stereotypes? You can just trash stereotypes and do what you want and wear whatever nail polish you want; that's how it should be. I feel so sophisticated and casual when I wear black nail polish. :)
Reply:im wearing it right now and it's not about what other people think. I don't give a sh*%^
Reply:well to those ppl callin us weiredos **** yall

n ways im punk now

but ive always worn black nail polish its cool if u like it then thats enough to make it cool n junk dont listen to other their just mad cuz they cant pull it off like you do :}
Reply:I think black nail polish can look SO cute if it goes with what you're wearing. Many celebrities are wearing it right now. :)
Reply:who cares what other people think... you should keep putting black nail polish on
Reply:Does the polish go with whatever you're wearing/your hair/your eyes? If yes, then it's cool. If no, then you shouldn't even be bothering.
Reply:Do what ever you want! I wear black nail polish sometimes and I am not a weirdo!
Reply:as long as you're not doing it to be one of those weirdos, then it looks good.
Reply:Always be your own person. Lead don't follow. If you are happy wearing black nail polish, then do it. Never let others dictate who you are.
Reply:i luv it and wear it a ll the time

ppl call me goth even though ill be wearing a pink sweater its pretty funni tho

i think guys get intimidated cuz this 1 guy told me that it means that black nail polish means i dnt need a guy to take care me
Reply:well if Chanel can sell black nail polish, it can't be THAT goth.
Reply:Wear whatever you want! Who cares about stereotypes?! If you like it than it's OK. I love black nail polish!

Does nail polish look good on anyone anymore?

I havn't seen alot of girls with nice lookings hands because their nail polish just looks horrible wiht their hands.

Have you ever noticed that, nail polish can look really weird on certain people, almost awkward...i can't get use to it.

Anyway, do you prefer clean clear hands, or do you still do the whole nail polish thing.

Does nail polish look good on anyone anymore?
I usually keep my nails clean. Sometimes I'll put on a clear polish.. =)

When I'm at home, and I have nothing better to do, I paint my nails in the most biazzard and weird looking colors....but just for fun. I take it off before I go to school. lol

As for other people...........I think that sometimes people choose colors that don't match their skin tone. They just pick a color that they think is pretty.

=)
Reply:I think matching nail polish looks really cute. If it starts chipping off, you have to remove it right away. It also looks bad if you bite your nails or clip them too short.
Reply:I like to use the clear nail polish now. I don't like the black and purple nail polish
Reply:It depends on who is wearing it. But I usally use a clear cote.
Reply:I have noticed that lately as well. It almost looks too thick! You see alot of bright colors too and I have always liked light colors better.
Reply:clean clear hands :]

nail polish chips and it gets me annoyed
Reply:It just depends on the color of the polish, actually. I still paint my nails. I'm currently sporting neon green. It's just another way to express yourself, to me.
Reply:Well, it truly is a matter of preference, since everyone is different (and aren't you glad?).

Nail polish, if done well and in a color that goes with the person wearing it, can be quite attractive.

Consider this, you see a person with a very light complexion wearing a very dark nail color. Not good, right?

Now what if you saw a nicely tanned girl wearing a medium short dress, some gold jewelry and with a softer gold polish on her fingers and toes. Nice....

How about a person with very short, uneven nails wearing chipped polish (any color). It's just not very attractive.

Now how about a girl with longer dark hair, an olive complextion, just the right amount of makeup to enhance (not hide) her natural beauty and wearing a glossy maroon on her nails. Pretty decent!

So you see? There are many variations - some work, some don't. Some people choose to just have their nails neatly trimmed and slightly buffer (no polish) for a neat, clean look.

I guess it's to each his own. That's why people-watching is so popular - you never know what you'll see!

Have fun observing!!
Reply:i never put on weird colours like purple or blue. i always go french with the french manicure cause it looks cute and fresh and clean!!
Reply:I've not worn nail varnish in about three or four years. Not only do I keep my nails short for archery (catching a nail on a bowstring really hurts!) and fighting, but I'm in the lab five days a week, and there's nothing like the acetone we use for washing glassware to take nail varnish straight off. There's just no point any more.
Reply:i use nail polish, but i put it on only when my nails are short with rounded ends and the cuticles are clean. once thats all settled, i choose a color that compliments my skin tone, then paint them myself and fix any mistakes!!
Reply:well i like painting my nails in a whole bunch of wierd colors in like stripes and polka dots.

but i guess it depends on what you prefer.

What nail polish should I buy?

I'm in the eighth grade and turning 14 next month, and I want to start wearing nail polish. I have no experience with nail polish, except for this one time in the fifth grade where I was at a birthday party, and the birthday girl wanted us all to paint our nails. I do not wear any makeup because I find it inappropriate for girls my age, but I think nail polish is cute and compliments your clothes and looks.

I heard OPI is a good brand, but I haven't seen it at a Target before. It is also pricey compared to drugstore brands. I'm looking for a good brand that can be purchased at Target. The colors I am looking for to start off with are off white, black, yellow, red, and dark purple. I've seen these colors a lot in magazines. Are these colors okay to begin with? And is it necessary to buy a clear, top coat as well?

Thank you for your help!

What nail polish should I buy?
These are some of my favorite nail polishes that are available at Target --

Double Duty Strengthening Base%26amp; Top Coat: http://www.sallyhansen.com/product.cfm?p...

Super Shine Shiny Top Coat: http://www.sallyhansen.com/product.cfm?p...

Maximum Growth plus Nourishing Nail Color: http://www.sallyhansen.com/product.cfm?p...

Rimmel 60 Seconds Nail Polish: http://www.rimmellondon.com/US/products/...

Maybelline Express Finish Nail Polish: http://www.maybelline.com/Product/Nail/N...

P.S. If you want a recommendation, I'd say a deep blue like Chanel Blue Satin. http://bp3.blogger.com/_8D5qVf5VMxs/R02r...
Reply:essie is great...or just go to a salon and get a french manicure...that would be the best because french goes with anything!
Reply:Okay my nails are jacked ha.

But claires neon nailpolish is super cute

%26amp; so is black nailpolish. revlon works good.
Reply:yah opi is fabulous and target shuold have it...... and by the way im younger than 8th grade and i wear makeup every day of my life
Reply:well the top coat can add a little bit of shine.. to your nail.. black is really ugly i think but that is up to you on what colors you want to wear loreal is a great brand to buy and maybeline
Reply:you don't need to get opi, the bottles are huge and you won't be able to finish the colors before it dries. All nail polish from Target is good.

off white: is a good color, cream colors too are really nice for spring/summer

black: is in this season, but since you're young, young people will just think you're goth/punk or whatever

yellow: makes it look like you have fungus on your nails

red: is awesome, but also tends to make your hands appear pale

dark purple: is a good color, if there is a touch of pink.

what color i recommend for you is a Coral/orange color. It's young and fresh and will make your fingers look slightly more tan. Also, wear a base coat, if you leave on your nail polish too long (more than two weeks) it will stain your nails yellow. Your top coat will protect your polish, and your base and top coat polish is just clear nail polish.
Reply:Yeah, OPI is the best! U can sometimes find it @ JCPenney's , or at OPI.com ! good luck!!!!
Reply:Go to Rite Aid, they have the BEST! Most of it is NYC Newyork... I hate that brand because they test on animals but the polish is very good!
Reply:wow you sound extremely intelligent for a 13 year old.

and i don't buy the bit about makeup being inappropriate for a girl your age. unless you're amish.

be that as it may, wal-mart has the best nail polish i've ever used. the brand is nicole and i'm wearing the dark purple right now. it's fantastic.
Reply:Well, if you’re only starting to wear nail polish, your nails are probably pretty strong and you don’t have to worry about nail strengtheners or calcium top coats or stuff like that. I personally like professional brands such as OPI, china glaze, creative and I especially love channels nail polishes! Top coats basically make the nail polish stay longer and keep it from chipping, bottom coats will make it easier to take off, kind of like moisturizer before make up.
Reply:im not sure if they have this at target but Revlon has some great nail polish. they may not have a big variety but it is good nail polish.
Reply:I like Sally Hansen the best myself, and it should be available at Target. If you are just starting to paint your nails yourself, I'd start with a pale, sheer shade, which will show less if you end up getting some on the skin surrounding your nails.

HELP! nail polish CRISIS?

I have no nail polish remover and I need this polish off soon. I have hardly any polish left, and I cant go to the store. Please help me! I have rubbing alchohol, does it work?

PLEASE HELP!!!

thanks

HELP! nail polish CRISIS?
Rubbing alcohol won't work.

If there are any tools/workshops, check for acetone. That's what the harsh and most dangerous nail polish removers are made of.

Failing that, use a clear nail polish remover, that isn't "quick dry". It takes forever, but you can slowly remove the old polish, by dissolving it with the fresh polish. Apply the new polish, wait just long enough for it to start to adhere to the old polish, and remove. Repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat.

No guarantees, though.
Reply:use the alcohol if it doesnt work scracth it girl that always works when you dont have anything else
Reply:Rubbing Alcohal Works (Not As Good And As Quick... But It Still Works)

Thats What I Use When I Dont Have Nail Polish Remover!!

Hope This HElps!!
Reply:ITS WORKS A LITLLE . TRY IT ..DUH!
Reply:Try the alchohol, or some heneken (j/p)

Or better of just send somebody to the store for you.
Reply:I can't imagine a nail polish crisis. But if it's a crisis to you, I'm here to help. Since there's very little polish left, nibble it off. I have done this by scrapeing the nail with my bottom teeth. Gross but effective.
Reply:I seriously don't know the answer to your question but I wanted to say thanks for helping me with mine. It really helped.
Reply:No it doesn't just put more nail polish on and take a piece of cloth and take both nail polishes off it works like a charm
Reply:no...you need acetone
Reply:Sometimes it works if you put a layer of another nailpolish (clear is probably best) on top of it and very quickly, before it dries, scratch or peel it off. The idea is that it will take the other layer of nail polish already on your nail with it.
Reply:pick it off or soak it in warm water. that loosens the polish and then u can pick it off. rubbing alchohol does not work i dont think.
Reply:lemon or lime or summin iz menna work?? im not sure but its worth a shot
Reply:don't use rubbing alchohol it won't work. if i was u i would scratch it off.

Will nail polish rmover hurt my kittens?

My cat had kittens a month ago. My daughter got nail polish on two of the kittens. They are rather large spots on their fur. Neither of them has polish near their faces though. If i use nail polish remover on them, will it hurt them? I googled this and found nothing. Please only reply if you know A LOT about cats. Thank You.

Will nail polish rmover hurt my kittens?
PLEASE don't use nail polish remover - if I were you I would cut it out, it won't look pretty but nail polish doesn't really suit them either, and hey, you get to NOT poison them to boot. Ever drank or inhaled acetone? It doesn't come recommended for a fully grown human, let alone a kitten!!
Reply:Do not put polish remover on them it is poisonous to pets. Let their hair grow out a little and VERY CAREFULLY trim away the spots of fur with scissors. Be very careful because you dont want to cut them. If you can afford it then just take them to a vet and let a professional handle it.
Reply:Yes it will harm them,it's toxic !!! Cut all the fur that's got it on ASAP,the fur will grow back. If the kittens lick it they will become sick.

Best wishes.

How can I learn to not only speak polish but carry out a conversation in polish?

I am of polish heritage and I know how to translate many words in polish, I can even understand a person speaking basic polish but I can't carry out a conversation myself. Whenever I try to speak polish there may be one or two words that I don't know how to say or I know how to say them in polish but not the right way.

How can I improve my polish so I can carry out a conversation with someone who is straight from Poland and knows almost no english?

Black nail polish or navy nail polish?

which would you be more likely to wear?

I read in a magazine that navy blue nail polish is last years black polish.

Black nail polish or navy nail polish?
I like both

but yeah your right- navy is in this season =]
Reply:I like black nail polish better.
Reply:I vote Navy. Although I'm really not much of a nail painter...

I also read that about Navy being the new black. Which shade of blue, navy or purple you should wear depends on your skin tone. A general rule is that the fairer your skin is, the darker your polish. Also, the darker your nail polish is, the shorter and rounder your nails should be. Happy Painting!
Reply:um, i would pick navy, black is too popular, and navy would fit my style better. with navy i can pair with red bettr.
Reply:navy nail polish
Reply:i wear black nail polish.

if i find a nice navy blue, without like glitter ill try it :]
Reply:ummm i wear them both
Reply:Navy sounds gorgeous.

black is more gothhish.

navyy is hot, new %26amp; dernier cri :)
Reply:navy. black is just too dramatic for me lol. happy holidays!

i would wear navy

Removing Nail Polish from carpeting!?

Last night my mom spilled a pretty good amount of bright red nail polish on her sage color carpeting. I just had to share with everyone how to get the stain out...you need to blot any excess nail polish, then grab wd-40....spray all of the stain. this will spread the stain...using a washcloth and some elbow grease it will slowly disappear. i then used some baby powder to get the excess oil out of the carpet, vaccumed...then treated it with carpet cleaner-like resolve. i had one place that stilled showed slightly and i rubbed it with some goo gone-and it is gone! im not going to lie and say it only took me a few minutes it took some time rubbing the stain out then vaccuming and all this. not really a question but just had to share! I'm a nail tech and i think the reason why wd-40 worked so well is because nail polish doesn't like oil-it can't stick to oil-oh and the color of the carpet didn't fade or anything!

Removing Nail Polish from carpeting!?
Use nail polish remover!!!
Reply:Good for you! When I was a kid my sister dropped a closed bottle of cheap BLUE nail polish on the carpet. The bottle spontaneously split open and there was a huge spot on the carpet. My mom tried getting it out with nail polish remover, which didn't work, so that area was covered with a rug forever after that. Good for you for figuring out how to clean it.
Reply:did you use a dry washcloth or a wet one? Thank you this is good to know.
Reply:Thanks for sharing, I love to hear new ways to get stains out, I'm writing this one down. so I don't forget.
Reply:the solution is so simple people. i only have one word for the nail polish problem on the carpet. and that word is. put an end table over it. thanks for the points

Dried nail polish?

I have this bright purple with glitter nail polish dried on my daughters carpet. she was trying to paint her own nails. that didn't work well for a 3 year old. Needless to say when i found out about it, it was already dried. The carpet is a med. shade gray and it's still very noctieable. the carpet ain't even 4 years old yet and it's in great shape out side of the nail polish. I'm thinking about selling my house and looking for something to work on it without making it lighter or even white.plus it's not in a area that you can hide it with something. any help i'll take. i won't use nail polish remover so don't even say that.

Dried nail polish?
I'm sorry, but I doubt it will ever look right again. You can try acetone. Gently blot and it should help fade the color, but it will never look the same. Replacing that section of carpet is your best bet. You can hire a carpet layer to come and patch it with a spare piece or some carpet from the closet. If done right, it will look like nothing happened when done. Good luck
Reply:Have you tried lacquer thinner? This is the maximum orbit for any type of dried paint. CAUTION: Lacquer thinner is explosively fammable but if you take care it may aid in your dilemna. No open flame within thirty feet.
Reply:Have you tried freezing it off, put a few ice cubes in a plastic bag and rub, then with a blunt knife , gently scrape it off, should come of like this, I can also suggest you try using a little of your own nail varnish remover , then rinse this area straight away with warm water and a small amount of dish washing liquid, Kids are great , they don´t have care in the world, god bless

How do you make nail polish last longer?

Whenever I get a manicure, the nail polish chips off within a day or two, especially when I work. I work in retail hanging clothes and I think the hangers make the polish chip off faster. I know nail polish lasts much longer on acrylics but I want to avoid getting acrylics because they damage my real nails so much when I get them removed. What can I do or use to make the polish last longer? I have a basecoat and topcoat (made by Orly) that are supposed to help the polish bond to the nail and last longer and resist chipping but it doesn't really work well. Any suggestions?

How do you make nail polish last longer?
when your getting a manicure ( or just giving yourself one) ask the lady to put a horizontal swipe of polish on the very tips of your nails.. this is like a barrier from chipping---honestly its amazing. i am not nice to my nails when i get a mani, but the stipe protects it from chipping. try it... good luck :]

ps. you can put the horizontal stpripr under or over your first coat,....
Reply:A base coat, your nail polish, then a top coat. If you are going to do work dealing with liquid, wear a glove.
Reply:I will never wear acrylics so I've had the same problem with paint staying on my nails. The only thing that works on my nails is OPI (base, polish %26amp; top coat) and Essie. I cook (so my hands stay wet %26amp; are constantly being washed) and I've been really impressed with these two brands. Just be sure to use two coats of color and let all the coats dry properly.
Reply:it may look silly and get a little hot, but I suggest wearing a snug fitting pair of gloves. Or go to OfficeMax or HomeDepot and get those rubber fingers for mail room workers. Hopefully you won't have to be butttoning any clothing up, but you should still be able to fold and hang clothes on hangers.

Hope these tips help.

Removing nail polish from leather?

I spilled a good amount of bright red nail polish on my black leather car seat. Any suggestions on how to remove it without damaging the leather. I considered nail polish remover, but afraid it will damage the leather. Not that it could be any worse than red nail polish!

Removing nail polish from leather?
If you have fingernail polish try acetate. Blot the chemical onto the nail polish spot using a Q tip trying not to touch the leather with the acetate and then blot with a towel and repeat, keep on doing this until stain is gone (will take a long time)

From a carpet cleaner of 14 years
Reply:This will almost certainly remove the top finsih on the leather which will leave the leather exposed and then destroy the leather itself over time. Report It

Reply:You may be lucky and find that it peels off depending what type of leather you have. If it does it may still leave a mark or remove the colour.

Nail varnish remover will definitely remove the pigment from your suite as well as the nail varnish, you will then have another difficult problem to resolve. No available cleaners for leather will remove this type of damage so you have to resort to solvents which like the nail varnish remover will remove pigment. Therfore this is a job for a trained leather technician.

Contact LTT on 01423 881027 to find a trained technician in your area if you are in the UK. Please be warned that any DIY remedies you find WILL damage your suite and it is best left to the professionals.

Can I use dog nail polish on a cat?

I have seen a lot of nail polish made specially for dogs, but I have done some yahoo and google searches for cat nail polish, but can't seem to find any.

There is a website that sells dog nail polish for $2 and something, its pretty cheap, the site is www.petedge.com

I have also seen dog nailpolish at a local pet shop.

do you think it would be safe to use dog nail polish on my cats? I don't think it would get stuck in there fur or anything because the website petedge.com says their's is fast drying, and my cats are pretty calm. i was just wondering if i could use it on cats, because i really wouldnt want to use human nail polish on them, im sure it toxic to animals.

thanks.

Can I use dog nail polish on a cat?
Cats' claws retract so nail polish really wouldn't be a good idea.

If you're really gung-ho about your cats having colored nails, check out vinyl nail caps (usually marketed under the name of SoftPaws or SoftClaws). They're just little caps that you glue over the cat's existing nail and they fall off every 4-6 weeks or so when the cat sheds the outer sheath of the nail. They're made to alleviate scratching problems because they dull the claw so it can't do damage but they make colored nail caps so you could use those. Just make sure that you don't let your cats outside while they're wearing the nail caps because they dull a cat's first line of defense.

Check out the photo galleries in the links below if you want an idea of what they look like. The websites also have FAQs and information about applying the caps.
Reply:Try using a product called Soft Paws. They are little rubber tips that go over the nails and they come in different colors. Most vets will be able to get them for you and I'm sure most groomers or pet stored also have them. They are safe, last about a month or so and you can see them when the cats claws are retracted.
Reply:Why would you want to? I mean, really? Their claws retract, so even a fast-drying polish is likely to end up on pawpads or fur. And when they groom, they'll be eating that, plus whatever chips off.

They're beautiful without our silly human vanities, you know? Paint your own nails and leave the kitties' alone.
Reply:Are they calm if you touch their feet? My cats FREAK OUT if I touch their feet.
Reply:Probably not a good idea, as cats lick everything off their paws. I am sure it's not meant to be ingested.

Plus, thier nails retract, so it's kind of pointless.
Reply:Here's what you have to keep in mind, trust me, I have tried painting my cats nails.

Cats claws are retractible, meaning they can go "into" the paw and 'hide" This means you would have to press on the paw to make the claws stick out, paint them, AND hold tahe cat's paw in the "Claws out" position until the polish is dry. MUCH harder than it seems. Even a good natured cat won't appreciate it's paws being held and squeesed (however gently) for that long, and will probably fight you.

You can go ahead and try, but it may not work too well.
Reply:I would say that it is better not to try it. Cats react differently to substances than dogs do. They can't use the same flea and tick medications because advantage is lethal to cats. To be on the safe side I would leave the nail polish for the dogs. Plus cats claws retract into the skin and dogs do not so unless you hold your cat's paw until the polish is dry it will come off as soon as you let go of the paw and the claws are retracted.

Removing Nail Polish?

1)Ok welll I spilled nail polish on my counter(its like laminate)And it want come off after it hardened. How do I get it off

2)Also how do I get it off my hands i took a shower and wash and scrubbed my hands and it wont come off

3)I got a french manicure and 2 of my nails chipped off.I have the White nail polish and the pink but the problem is the nail polish has a large brush. How would I reapply the white tip TECHNIQUES?? TOOLS??

Removing Nail Polish?
Simple, use finger nail polish remover (without acetone) on the counter and on your hands.

Snip the brush for the white polish so that it is thinner and repaint your french manicure.
Reply:It will all come off with acetone nail remover...but you may have to go and have your nails redone. Put on rubber gloves to clean your counter...but you may have to use it on your hands and fingers...but I don`t know what to do with your nails except have them done over.
Reply:On the counter...take a single edge razor...and VERY CAREFULLY attack the edges of the polish..if there is a color stain when you get the polish up..try a bit of cleanser..let it sit and then with a soft cloth scrub it off...goood luck ♥

Any one Polish?!?

I am part Polish (but don't speak any at all!) and was thinking that it would be pretty neat to call my two boys ages 3 and 2 an endearing name in Polish on occasion. I'm looking for something like "beloved", "sweetheart", "angel", etc, etc. If anyone is Polish and knows of anything appropriate to call a son, please answer! Also, I will need to you phonetically spell it so I will be able to pronounce it. Thanks for anyone who helps!

Any one Polish?!?
That would be:

"kochanie" ("beloved", used here also as equivalent to "darling", pronounciation should be sth like "kokhanyie").

Can't find any equivalent to "sweetheart" that would be appropriate when referring to a child.

"anioł", or rather "aniołek" (literally "angel" or "little angel", which is actually sometimes used when referring to a child). Pronounciation should be alike to "aniow" with "a" like in "ah!" and "w" like in "world" / "aniowekh" with "e" like in "ear".

However, Polish is a highly declinative language, and forms do change a lot - "kochanie" can be used as-is, since it's gramatically neutral. "Aniołek" however should undergo some changes depending on the situation / context. Still, for your needs the basic form should do...

Keep in mind the pronounciation guidelines are only as accurate as I could write them, I have a problem imagining how it should be written phonetically for an English-speaking person. So better ask someone speaking good Polish to say it a few times, and make your own phonetic writing.
Reply:My family moved from poland to german in the 1500's then they moved to mexico in the 1800's. No I don't speak Polish
Reply:I don't speak Polish but the word for loved in Russian an other Slavic language is Lubimy it's probably simular in Polish.

My nail polish is old & really thick.?

My nail polish is really think and old. Is there any way to make it usable again? I've heard that if you dilute it with nail polish remover, that it loosens it. Is that true?

It's not a huge issue to throw out the nail polish; I'm just really cheap (I'm in college) and am trying to save money.

My nail polish is old %26amp; really thick.?
i dont think you can make it usable.

id throw it out for you

longs has reallllly cheap cute nailpolish, if youre looking for some new hip colors id go there :]
Reply:Toss it, and get some OPI.

it's inexpensive, gorgeous, and lasts a longgg time.

I wore one coat for two months before it wore all the way off, hahaha. [But it comes off with nail polish remover fine.]
Reply:It will loosen but it chips and clumps more.
Reply:I've seen my manicurist do this with polish remover, but it only takes a drop or two, then roll the bottle in your hands to blend well.
Reply:No choice but to dump it. Get a new one. Save up.
Reply:when you buy a N/P always keep them in a dry plastic storage and put them in the bottom of your refrigerator door, keep away from sun. when you apply them on to ur nails, pick before go to bed in the night, so you will not make a mess to your wet N/P bcos u doing something by ur hand, wash your hand with free oil soap, brush your nails with a soft brusher ( im using an infant tooth brush, its cheap!). apply the N/P only one time for pastel color, and two times for strong color, but the key is wipe the polisher feather smoothly, so you dont need to reapply and re aplly! it cause the N/P become drier and drier. in the morning you will have your nails polished!

you can only keep your N/P not more than 6months. other wise you want to apply a worst N/P and damage your hand cuticle. diluting your "thicker" N/P is another way to make i lighter, but dont forget, the remover liquid is made by aceton, and it can harm your nails cuticle, make your nails could not breath and become yellow in another day, if you keep this way, you will find your nails lose it moist and become ugly!

if you like to keep your nails manicured and coloured, you better buy a good N/P, litle bit expensive but worth.

but my suggestion, well manicured and clean is more than enough, and also my husband loves them natural!
Reply:ok!you can mix it with nail polish remover to reuse it but the problem is that it looses its shine!meaning its going to look dull and not sparkly as nail polish does so either buy a new one or just mix it with nail polish remover and have a dull nail polish.........................
Reply:fill a sink with boiling water, then leave the nail varnish bottle in there for a few minutes. It's what i do to all mine when they start getting thick
Reply:try it and see if it works. if not, throw it out. and if a $2 bottle of polish is standing between you and college, just go without the polish.
Reply:I have tried using nail polish remover to thin the polish and even tried some nail polish thinner that I found at Sally's and it did thin the polish. To me, the polish did not seem the same as when it was new and did not stay on as long.
Reply:Yeah That is true. Use just a lil and shake it up really well. You may only be able to use it one or two more times tho, when they get old, and you need to make them liquid again, its pretty much a lost cause after that.

Red nail polish?

I've tried red nail polish on my toes and I really liked it. So now I want to paint my fingernails red. But, I don't wear very much red, and I don't wear black that much either. Should my nail polish kind of match my clothes? Like, would it look weird if I wore blue and had red nail polish on?

Red nail polish?
Not at all. Most of today's fashions involve mixing and matching with different colors and patterns. Red goes with a lot, and it shouldn't matter what color your nails are. It'll look a tad nicer if it were one of those colors that went with absolutly everything, but who cares? Just as long as you think it looks good, you'll be fine!
Reply:Thats fine. Your nails dont have to match your clothes.

Not many peoples do...
Reply:Just go for it, it doesn't matter what outfit you are wearing, there are some really classy looking reds out there at the moment. Enjoy.
Reply:No, nail polish doesn't have to match ur clothes at all!

blue and red look great together

p.s. Red nail polish rocks
Reply:Red nail polish is classic and goes with anything. Darker shades of red and just about any colour are REALLY in right now too.
Reply:no it dosent have to.

red is my favorite color of nail polish and i wear a lot of grey, blue, white, yellow, oatmeal/tan and it looks good and i think really hip.
Reply:It doenst matter what you wear, nailpolish works with everything, especially red. But make sure if you paint you fingernails red, you dont have short fingernails. i did this once while i still bit my nails and it looked horrible.
Reply:red nail polish rocks. you wear it whenever you want.
Reply:Your nail polish don't have to match your clothing. I mean, you can't change your nail color daily like you change your clothes. Red nail polish always looks good.
Reply:It should be fine. You cant match all the time
Reply:no nail polish dosen't have to match your nails really whatever you throw on just weirdly enough works with the outfit...

Should I polish his nob?

Very serious question....

He asked me to help clean his place, but this cabinet he has looks like an antique and the nobs are dull.

What kind of polish should I use?

Do I polish his nob fast or slow?

How long does his nob need polishing for?

Should I polish his nob?
until he tells you to stop! ;)

Daddy is back!
Reply:Polish it til it pukes!
Reply:I do not know, my head was in the gutter. Sorry!
Reply:Yes you should slow is best..

Just polish it till it shines

Reply:Come on Melrose, a serious question? OK, I'll try to give a serious answer.

You can always try the old spit and polish technique although perhaps some Brasso is more appropriate in this instance. It's always best to polish slowly and make sure you do those hard to reach places for a really good job. You will know when you have administered enough polishing because their will be a shiny glow about his nob.
Reply:Well, sometime the antiques can be stronger than new pieces, with a higher quality of material used. Any kind of polish will work, as long as the owner of the piece approves! I think a combination of fast and slow motion will be effective, but DON'T stop until the owner is satisfied with your work :)
Reply:LOL, will you ever run out my dear?
Reply:lmao. Good question Melrose. My experience shows a good spit shine is your best bet. There are different polishing techniques, I prefer rotating between fast and slow and that usually does the trick and it doesn't take long at all.!!

Any Polish Schools or places to learn Polish in Rugby/Coventry/Daventry (in England) area?

Hi!

I want to learn Polish, but I think if I tried to learn it myself online or at home then I wouldn't get too far.

Does anyone know of anywhere in the Rugby/Coventry/Daventry area where there is a school or a place where I could take Polish lessons? Ideally in the Rugby area as that is the closest to me. This would be in England, UK by the way.

Thanks!

Any Polish Schools or places to learn Polish in Rugby/Coventry/Daventry (in England) area?
Sorry cannot give you any details just wanted to say it's nice you want to learn this difficult language.

As there are so many Poles living in England I am sure there must be someone willing to teach Polish and maybe learn English same time?

Maybe the Polish Cultural Institute (in UK) can help you?

Nail polish as wart remover?

I read somewhere that applying clear nail polish to plantar's warts will get rid of them. Has anyone tried this and had it work? Do you peel off the dried nail polish and a much of the wart before you apply a new layer or do you just keep putting on nail polish until it dissolves or falls off?

Or do you have any other effective, non-surgical ways of removing warts?

Nail polish as wart remover?
It does work, on small warts. You just keep painting on the polish until the wart disappears. Reason being, warts need air, by smothering them with the nail polish, you basically suffocate them.
Reply:ok this may seem really weird but my boyfriend had warts on his hands and his doctor told him to put duct tape over them untill they are gone, my boyfriends re completely gone, he started to notice a difference in the size of the wart after a couple days.... it works
Reply:nail polish does not work. you can buy wart removing products at any drugstore, look for products with high amount of salicylic acid.
Reply:i would ot use nail polish for that..go to your local grocery store or pharmacy and get the warm remover ..called..freez off..it works my brother used it..try to keep your hands clean and dont mess with them as much as possible cause they spread to other fingers and parts of your body if your not carefull
Reply:The best way to remove a wart without paying for the doctor is using dried ice. This is the same thing doctors use!

Just be careful, of course! Apply the ice carefully (it burns!!) to the infected area once or twice a week until it's gone.

My friend had a very big stubborn wort for man, at least 10 years and removed it herself this way! I'd try fingernail polish and duct tape FIRST though, but if lack of air isn't enough to do the trick why pay the doctor to do something you can do yourself?

Is Polish difficult to learn????

nd wants to learn some Polish so he can speak it with his staff.

He called the Polish culture centre in Dublin a to find out where he could get lessons and the woman on the phone laughed at him and told him that unless he has a really high aptitude for languages he wouldn’t be able to do it.

Is that true?

He doesnt expect to be fluent or anything he just wanted to learn some conversational stuff.

I know Polish isn’t at all related to English so that might be strange when you try to learn it but since he already speaks Gaeilge and that s not related to English it wouldn’t be such a shock to him.

Is it really hard would he just be wasting his time or is the woman exaggerating?

Is Polish difficult to learn????
That foolish woman who works in the Polish Culture Center should be sacked. If anything, she should be encouraging and flattered that somebody would want to learn Polish, a language which is rich in culture, literature and folklore. That aside, it is difficult to learn and the grammar, like many Slavic languages, is quite hard for an English speaker to fathom. But determination and willingness will prove it out. With all the wonderful material on the internet, it makes the job of learning any language easier.

Here is a suggestion: try listening to some Polish singers such as Maryla Rodowicz. You can locate her material on youtube or her website http://www.marylarodowicz.pl where you will see written Polish as well as be able to access one of her recordings. The lyrics are available in written form on this website: http://www.piosenki.pl Have fun!
Reply:Polish is a very hard language to learn due to the differnt writings. I am 13 years old and am able to write and speak Arabic, English (fluent), French (fluent), Spanish, Hungarian (fluent), and Italian. I think im gonna try polish soon, but right now I think that six lanuages is enough.
Reply:Yes, it is quite a difficult language. Nothing is impossible, but I'm sure it would take years of immersion to get it. Those slavic languages tend to be very hard to learn.
Reply:It hard to learn. But its depend on your friend. Some people have talent for language. They can speak at least 5 languages. No. He's not gonna wast his time. Forget about that woman. Nothing is impossible.
Reply:It is a very hard language to learn, a lot of letters in english are opposite to the ones in Polish.. He should try though, it's worth it.

Reply:Polish chocolates
Reply:My fiance is polish and I am not sure what this is called but he sometimes brings it home from a polish grocery store that he goes to. It is a thin wafer made of sesame seeds and is held together by some sort of honey mixture. They are absolutely delicious and beautiful to look at. They come in a little foil packet so I am sure it can be found at most polish stores and not just the one we go to.
Reply:When I read your question, my first thought was the hard candies filled with fruit/jelly stuff. But then when you said your preference was chocolate, I wasn't so sure. Then I found this website and remembered Krowki. It should help with the chocolate preference, it is under the "candies" section.

Reply:halinasdeli.com has lots of Polish and other European candies and treats.
Reply:i'm not sure where on the candy but i'd do a google search.

Nail polish cracked on kitchen tiles....?

I was keeping my nail polish in my refrigerator. When I opened the door, the nail polish flew out and shattered on my tile floor. I was able to get it off the tile, but it has stained the grout! I have used nail polish remover, and a bunch of other cleaning supplies.....but no such luck! Any suggestions on how to clean the grout!!! It makes me sick!

Nail polish cracked on kitchen tiles....?
Why would you keep nail polish in the fridge?

If nail polish won't get it off, you will probably have to use a sander and maybe re-grout. :/
Reply:Fingernail polish contains chemicals that can quickly ruin the surface. Immediately scrape up any excess spill. Dab the area with a cloth dipped in amyl acetate and rinse, but this stain may be permanent.

OR

Wipe up the excess immediately. Wipe the area with a cloth dampened with acetone. Rinse with a damp cloth and wipe dry. If any stain remains, make a poultice of water, 3% hydrogen peroxide, and a mild powder detergent. Apply the poultice to the stain and cover with a damp cloth. When the stain has been bleached out, rinse thoroughly and dry.
Reply:go ask the ladies at walmart in the cosmetics, i used to work there and i swear i couldnt get the nail polish stains off the ground with nail polish remover but the ladies that had been there a while could. i never asked how, all i can think of is try paint thinner
Reply:I keep my nail polish in the fridge too, but I have a box for the bottles...anyway. Try using acetone on the grout. If that doesn't work, try sanding the grout lightly with fine grit paper.
Reply:Scratch it out and re-grout, it's the only way to do it.

You can get small packs of grout from the hardware.

Good Luck.
Reply:you could buy grout stain from any specialty/tile store. They have plain white and custom colors to match your grout. You just paint it over the nail polish....
Reply:grout is way too porius to clean polish out of it, you will have to regrout or use a touch of matching paint.
