Polish or Slovak easier?

I studied Russian in college and really enjoyed it except for the Cyrillic alphabet.

I was wondering since I enjoyed the grammar and pronunciation of Russian BUT HATED the cyrillic alphabet if I may just enjoy Polish or Slovak as they are roman alphabet.

How close is Polish and Slovak to Russian in grammar, snytax and all the rest?

My goal is personal enrichment and not fluency but it would be really great to have fluency in a Slavic langugage.

Thanks to those who answer.

Polish or Slovak easier?
All of them are Slavonic languages so they are similar although there are also many differences. I think if you know Russian you will be able to learn Polish or Slovak easy. Good Luck!
Reply:Well there are certainly more people around the world who speak Polish...but Slovak is very close to czech..up until 1989 it was considered on langauge without the need for the translators they have today. I live in Poland and many people here seem to think they can understand and or speak both czech and russian. I tested this theory one on an airplane with a russian guy who couldnt fil out his customs form or even say what he wanted ot drink in english..since I think I can almost speak Polish I should almost be able to speak russian too right..well, it worked okay..maybe he had to understand me cause no one else would talk/help him.

I dunno but I think the spelling might be easier in Polish its really difficult but its very phonetic and the sound to me is closer to russian whereas czech seems sorter..
Reply:polish is pretty hard too learn i mean like all those rules well i speak polish so i know but Slovak i don't know..i would pick polish u don't have too know everything
